Golf on Florida’s Treasure Coast has its own rhythm. Some of the best days begin early, when the light is softer, the air is cooler and there is still plenty of time after the final putt to enjoy everything surrounding the course.
At Glynlea Country Club in Port St. Lucie, a golf day can move easily from an 18-hole championship course designed by Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk to the nation’s first Aquatic Toptracer® Driving Range, a casual bite at the Tee Box Grille and, for prospective residents, a tour of the designer model homes.
Start Early, Set the Pace for the Day and Have More Fun
An early tee time is a smart choice during Florida’s warmer months, but it also creates a more relaxed day in any season. Arrive with enough time to stretch, take a few swings and settle into the setting before the first tee. Put on the sunscreen, bring a hat, choose breathable clothing, and play the tees that fit your game rather than the number printed on the scorecard.
The goal is not to overpower the course. A steady tempo, thoughtful targets and the right starting position can make the round more rewarding and leave enough energy for whatever comes next.
A Jim Furyk Golf Course Designed for Every Level of Play
When Furyk began planning Glynlea’s 18-hole championship course, he started by considering who would play it. Conversations with GreenPointe Developers founder Ed Burr and the development team helped shape a course intended to challenge accomplished golfers without taking the fun out of the game for newer players and higher-handicap golfers.
“It doesn’t have to be 7,400 yards long,” Furyk recalled. “We want some wide fairways. I want folks to be able to bounce the ball into greens and play the ball on the ground.”
That philosophy is visible throughout the course. Multiple tee positions change more than distance; they also change the angles golfers face. Wide landing areas give players room to keep the ball moving, while angled greens, tucked pin positions and subtle undulations reward those who reach the correct side of the fairway.
The routing adds variety with five par 3s and five par 5s. Furyk points to the fifth and sixth holes as personal favorites: No. 5 for the way its green fits into the land, followed by a drivable par 4 that asks golfers to decide whether to lay up or take on the wetlands in pursuit of birdie.
“The best compliment that any designer or architect could really receive is that folks had a great time playing their course, that it was playable for all levels and somewhat challenging for all levels,” Furyk said.
Residents Chad and Susan are already putting that philosophy to the test. Both are golfers, although Susan jokes that some members of the household are better than others. “Well, I haven’t lost any balls yet, so I say that’s a success,” she said.
Chad describes the layout as open and suited to a wide range of golfers and handicaps. “The greens are fantastic,” he said. “They’re fast. They’re true.”
When told about Susan’s perfect record, Furyk laughed. “I don’t think I can say that. I’ve lost a ball personally, so she must be a pretty good golfer.”
Golf Surrounded by Florida’s Natural Character
The course’s playability is only part of its character. During the initial routing, Furyk and the development team worked to bring as many holes as possible alongside wetlands and preserved natural areas. Very few stretches place homes on both sides of a hole, allowing golfers to look across fairways, ponds and native vegetation rather than through a continuous corridor of rooftops.
“We really tried to get as many golf holes near those wetlands and natural areas as we could,” Furyk said. “We wanted to use the beauty of Florida.”
For Chad and Susan, who live along the seventh hole, that balance changes throughout the day. Susan appreciates being able to sit on the lanai with a view that blends the golf course and preserve.
“It still feels a little wild, which is great,” she said.
Chad notices the trees framing the fairways, the wildlife and the sunsets. Susan points to quieter mornings, when fog settles over the course. These are the details that make the setting feel distinctly connected to Florida’s Treasure Coast and give residents a reason to look outside even when they are not playing.

Make Time for the Aquatic Toptracer Range
Not every golf experience at Glynlea has to involve keeping score for 18 holes. The Aquatic Toptracer® Driving Range brings a more casual, social side to the game, with 10 covered hitting bays, floating targets, interactive games and virtual courses that can turn time at the range into friendly competition among families, neighbors and friends.
Brandie and Regan Goan have seen that accessibility firsthand. Brandie does not consider herself a golfer, but the range has become a family destination.
“We’ve taken the kids there and spent almost half a day there, and it was a blast,” she said.
During the outing, their younger daughter progressed from struggling to make contact to, as the family put it, “crushing it.”
For golfers looking to work on their game, Toptracer technology adds another dimension. Real-time feedback includes carry distance, total distance, ball speed, launch angle and shot dispersion, making the range useful for a focused practice session or a few warm-up swings before heading to the first tee.
That versatility is part of what makes the experience distinctive. One visit can be about improving your swing, while the next can simply be about enjoying a game with family or friends.
Take a Break at the Tee Box Grille
A golf day should also leave time to catch a bite at the Tee Box Grille. Located beside the Golf Shop, it has become a natural gathering place for golfers at the turn, Glynlea residents and visitors alike.
Chef Orlando is earning rave reviews for his smash burgers and Snake River hot dogs, two favorites that have quickly developed their own following. It is an easy place to refuel after a round, compare scores over lunch or simply spend a little more time enjoying the atmosphere at Glynlea.
Imagine Making Golf Part of Everyday Life
For some visitors, a round on the course or time at the range may prompt a larger question: What would it be like to have this experience just beyond the front door?
That possibility brought Brandie and Regan Goan to Glynlea after a two-year home search. They had struggled to find the right balance of home quality, price and Regan’s longtime dream of living on a golf course.
“We actually didn’t think we were going to be able to until we drove in,” Brandie said. Once she saw the community and the home, the search quickly felt settled.
Other members have already discovered what that proximity can mean. Chad can leave his front door carrying his golf bag and walk to the course without getting into a car. Golf becomes less of an outing that must be planned and more of a natural part of the week.
For homebuyers considering that lifestyle, Glynlea offers new homes from Lennar, Perry Homes and Dream Finders Homes, with six designer model homes available to tour.
