Renowned as a 17-time PGA Tour champion with an iconic swing, Jim Furyk is now joining forces with GreenPointe Developers and Hampton Golf to introduce a new golf course in Port St. Lucie, Florida. In a region where new golf opportunities are rare, this visionary team is excited to unveil Glynlea Country Club. Their collective aspiration extends beyond crafting a mere golf course – they aim to establish a laidback lifestyle that’s inclusive and fun for all ages and skill levels. Let’s meet the visionaries bringing this new community to life.

Jim Furyk's new course - Jim himself talking about Glynlea

Jim Furyk – Golf Course Designer

One of the PGA Tour’s most recognizable and talented golfers, Jim Furyk seems like he was born to play golf. He began to play at a very young age under the guidance of his father, who was the head or assistant head professional of several golf courses in Pennsylvania. He took his homegrown talent to the University of Arizona, where he was twice named an All-American and led his school to its first NCAA golf championship. After joining the PGA Tour in 1994, he won at least one tournament each year between 1998 and 2003. Most recently, he was named the Vice Captain for the 2023 Ryder Cup and U.S. Team Captain for the 2024 Presidents Cup.

Drawing inspiration from his time on the PGA Tour and participation in amateur charity events, Furyk’s goal was to create a friendly layout for all skill levels. “I think too many people see a tour player as the designer and they immediately think ‘Oh my goodness this course is going to be hard,'” said Furyk. “That’s not the case at Glynlea. Our goal was to create a fun golf course, a fun atmosphere, and a place where all levels of golfers could come together to enjoy the game of golf.”

Michael Beebe - Golf Course Architect with Jim Furyk

Michael Beebe – Golf Course Architect

Helping Furyk bring his signature course to life is Michael Beebe, a 40-year veteran in golf course architecture. A graduate of Ball State University in 1982, he started his career with Charles Ankrom in Stuart, Florida. Beebe fulfilled his dream by establishing his own firm, Beebe & Associates, Inc, in 1998. Known for his collaborative approach, Beebe combines creative design skills with expertise in project management, landscape architecture, and course operations. Beebe has been an active member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) since 1989 and has been a registered landscape architect in Florida since 1983.

Actively involved in business, civic, and charitable organizations, Burr has contributed significantly, serving on the Board of the Florida Council of 100, chairing the Florida State University Board of Trustees, and establishing the Monique Burr Foundation to prevent child victimization. His impactful work has earned him various accolades, including the Ultimate CEO Award, the Hearthstone Humanitarian Award, and the ULI North Florida Visionary Leader.

Austin Burr – GreenPointe Developers Regional President, South Florida

As a Regional President for GreenPointe Developers, Austin Burr oversees all developments in the South Florida region, including Wylder, the master-planned community that encompasses Glynlea. He also serves as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee on the Board of Directors for the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to child advocacy. In this role, Burr actively contributes to MBF’s mission of empowering children with knowledge and strategies to prevent bullying, cyberbullying, digital dangers, child abuse, and exploitation.

Austin Burr is looking forward to bringing a new golf community to the Treasure Coast. “Port St. Lucie is an area we feel has been starved for golf for quite some time,” said Austin Burr. “This will be Furyk’s signature course, but we also are going to offer a driving range, pickleball, tennis, a pool, fitness amenities, and much more. Our goal is to make this a fun community that everyone can enjoy.”

MG Orender – Hampton Golf President speaking at glynlea groundbreaking

MG Orender – Hampton Golf President

After beginning his golf career in 1974 at Diamond Hill Golf Club in Tampa, Florida, M.G. Orender helped build and manage several Florida golf clubs. Orender is a past President of the PGA of America and was honored as its “Legend” of 2017. In 1998, he founded Hampton Golf with Ed Burr. Hampton Golf manages the development and operation of 20 golf courses and lifestyle amenities for leading master-planned communities. With every community, Orender focuses on creating a superior lifestyle experience for residents.

Orender is looking forward to collaborating with both GreenPointe Developers and Jim Furyk. “Ed and I have built seven or eight courses together, and it’s a beautiful thing to come together again for Glynlea,” said Orender. “He asked how I felt about Jim being the designer, and I said that would be incredible. Jim has a great eye for design. He knows how to make a golf course where you can stand on the tee, look down the fairway, and know exactly where to hit it.”

Developers of Glynlea teeing off

Teeing Off on Florida’s Treasure Coast

Spanning approximately 560 acres, Glynlea Country Club plans to create an exceptional private club lifestyle. The heart of the neighborhood will be Furyk’s signature course, a par 72 layout spanning from 4,249 to 6,755 yards. Four sets of tees and breathtaking surrounding natural features enhance the golf experience for all who step onto the course. Beyond the greens, the Club Campus will also include a driving range with Top Tracer hitting bays, a golf pro shop, a state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, and more.

Glynlea will offer a diverse range of residential offerings from the $400s to over $1 million. Its variety includes single-family homes, townhomes, and villas, all graced with stunning views of the golf course, lakefront, and surrounding wetlands. An HOA takes care of maintenance, landscaping, and community amenities, providing residents with peace of mind whether they’re near or far from home.

After a “tee off” groundbreaking celebration in late October, anticipation is building for the grand reveal of Glynlea Country Club.
