With new golf options scarce in South Florida, a new option has just emerged for Port St. Lucie residents. Situated within the master-planned community of Wylder, Glynlea Country Club has captivated homebuyers with its attainable and energetic golf lifestyle. Now, Jim Furyk, a 17-time PGA Tour Champion, is leaving his mark on the community’s distinctive layout. While Furyk boasts years of experience in course design, Glynlea will be the first signature course designed by the PGA player. Collaboratively developed by GreenPointe Developers and managed by Hampton Golf, Furyk’s design ensures a timeless layout that withstands the test of time.
“My career has given me the incredible opportunity to play golf all around the world, exposing me to a lot of different architectural styles for golf courses,” said Furyk. “I like to say I spent 30 years on the PGA Tour criticizing all the courses we played and now the keys are mine for me to design my own. It’s an honor for me to have my name associated with this course, and I’m genuinely excited about this endeavor.”
Jim Furyk’s Design Philosophy
After collaborating on charitable golf events for the Monique Burr Foundation, Ed Burr, CEO of GreenPointe Holdings LLC, tapped Furyk to design Glynlea’s course. Furyk’s aspiration for his golf course was to seamlessly integrate it into the friendly nature of the other amenities, delivering a tour-level experience that remains accessible for beginners. The result was a par 72 course spanning 4,249 to 6,755 yards with four sets of tees. Departing from the standard, the course boasts five par fives and par threes, each framed by stunning landscapes.
Furyk also emphasized bunkers as integral elements of the course’s character. Rather than viewing them as annoying obstacles, he sees bunkers as tools to help guide a player’s strategy, directing towards preferred angles of approach to the greens. The greens vary in size, thoughtfully designed to match the challenges of each hole. Smaller, more guarded greens are strategically placed for shorter holes, where precision is essential, while longer and more demanding holes feature larger, more accessible greens with ample opportunities for chipping and putting.
Drawing inspiration from his time on the PGA Tour and participation in amateur events, Furyk’s goal was to create a course where all levels could come together to enjoy the game. “Over the years, I’ve played a lot of golf with my mom and in amateur tournaments,” shared Furyk. “Too often I see the forward tees are put in poor angles that places golfers in a bad position from the very beginning. We made sure that as the average golfer plays this course, there’s a better angle to the fairways. It gives every golfer, whether they’re a 30 handicapper, a kid, or a beginner, a chance to get the ball in the fairway, advance it, and put themselves in a position for the next shot.”
State-of-the-Art Training Facilities
No golf course is complete, however, without ways players can practice their swing. Along with the Jim Furyk signature course, Glynlea Members will have access to a Toptracer Aquatic Driving Range, with golf professionals providing training sessions. Additionally, a fully stocked golf pro shop provides all the equipment, apparel, and accessories needed to elevate a player’s game. To manage the day-to-day golf operations at Glynlea, GreenPointe Developers partnered with Hampton Golf. The company has decades of affiliation with GreenPointe, and a 20-year track record of managing country clubs and golf courses across Florida, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, and Tennessee. Hampton Golf understands that Glynlea represents more than just golf; it’s about fostering a vibrant lifestyle centered on camaraderie.
MG Orender, President of Hampton Golf, is looking forward to collaborating with both GreenPointe Developers and Jim Furyk. “Ed and I have built seven or eight courses together, and it’s a beautiful thing to come together again for Glynlea,” said Orender. “He asked how I felt about Jim being the designer, and I said that would be incredible. Jim has a great eye for design. He knows how to make a golf course where you can stand on the tee, look down the fairway, and know exactly where to hit it. It’s not confusing or silly. It’s great golf. That, along with his personal attributes, was why he was selected for Glynlea.”
A Vibrant Golf Club Lifestyle
The excitement at Glynlea extends far beyond the golf course. A resident-exclusive Club Campus fosters an inviting and relaxed atmosphere for all ages. From a top-notch fitness center to friendly games of pickleball or tennis on the racquet courts, there are ample ways to stay active. As the day winds down, the resort-style pool invites residents to relax and soak up the Florida sunshine. Additionally, residents will have access to Wylder’s community-wide amenities, including lakeside recreational areas, charming pocket parks, and an expansive 113-acre Wylder Park.
Austin Burr emphasizes the thoughtful design behind the Club Campus. “We don’t ever want to overload our residents with costs that are unbearable,” shared Burr. “That’s why there’s not going to be one giant clubhouse. Rather, it’s going to be spread out more in a campus style. We’ll still offer everything you’ve come to know in club communities but at an affordable price.”
New Homes Designed for Lock-and-Leave Living
Spanning approximately 560 acres, Glynlea will offer a diverse range of residential offerings from the $400s to over $1 million. Its variety includes single-family homes, townhomes, and villas, all graced with stunning views of the golf course, lakefront, and surrounding wetlands. Crafted by the nation’s premier builders, these homes prioritize energy efficiency and offer extensive personalization options, enabling buyers to tailor their space to suit their family and lifestyle. An HOA takes care of maintenance, landscaping, and community amenities, providing residents with peace of mind whether they’re near or far from home.
Teeing Off on Florida’s Treasure Coast
